Security at Memphis International Airport 

All passengers departing from MEM Airport must undergo TSA security screening, as required by U.S. law. Security checkpoints usually open around 3:00 a.m. and close at 8:30 p.m. After that, responsibility is handed over to the Airport Police Department.

Starting from February 1, 2026, travelers without an acceptable ID may still be able to fly by paying a $45 fee and using TSA ConfirmID. It is a newer identity verification system available at security checkpoints at MEM Airport.

Please note that the TSA PreCheck enrollment office at MEM, operated by Idemia, is currently closed.

Memphis International Airport has three check-in counters at terminals A, B, and C, where passengers can check in with their airlines and drop off baggage. • Economy Parking has 4,554 spaces on levels 3–7 of the Ground Transportation Center (GTC). You can follow the Economy/Rental Car Pickup signs to the left when entering the airport. 
• Level 5 offers 10 charging stations, including two ADA-accessible spaces next to the elevators.
• The elevators have complimentary luggage carts. 
• Economy parkers can get to the terminal via the GTC pedestrian walkway, which features moving sidewalks, landscaping, and Memphis music. 
• You can take the elevators to Level 1, then walk to Terminal B and proceed two levels up for ticketing and security.

Cell Phone Lot

The airport has a free waiting area located within a minute of the terminal. You can wait safely until your passenger is ready, then meet them curbside. Free Shuttle Service

MEM provides free shuttles from the Blue and Yellow lots:

• Blue Lot: Two shuttle shelters are on the right of the driveway: one is near the entrance and one at the south end.

Note: There is no shuttle service from the Economy, Long-Term, or Short-Term garages.

Rental Cars

Rideshare (Uber & Lyft)

Currently, Lyft and Uber operate at Memphis International Airport. Their pick-ups have shifted to the new Interim Commercial Curb on the Arrivals/Baggage level. You can check the bright orange signs that will direct you to this area. Pickups will remain here until the 4th quarter of 2027, when the new upper driveway is completed. When using a rideshare, always verify the driver and vehicle by checking the license plate, car make and model, and driver photo in the app. It is advisable to request trips only through the official rideshare app.
